How to Use This Book

If you are a teen reading alone:

Read at your own pace. Skip chapters that feel too heavy. Use the journaling prompts. If anything makes you realize you need help, turn to the crisis numbers above. You are brave for picking this up.

If you are a parent reading with your child:

Use the Parent and Teacher Guide sections at the end of key chapters. Read the stories together if ready, or read first yourself. The conversation starters are designed for car rides, meals, and walks—not interrogations.

If you are a teacher, counselor, or mentor:

This book works in classroom discussions, support groups, after-school programs, and one-on-one mentoring. The Healing Program chapters describe a model you can adapt for your community.

If you are a survivor reading as an adult:

Welcome home. The grounding techniques will help you stay present. The lessons written for teenagers may be exactly the words you needed at that age—and they are still true now. Healing does not expire.

No matter who you are, something led you here. Trust that.

Thank you for telling me. I believe you.
