What this is
Two books by one author, published together because they are one argument read in two directions. Take Care of You is about coming home to yourself. Save the World is about what you do once you have — for a child, a student, a friend, or the version of you that needed someone years ago.
Each of them exists in two editions, and she wrote both. The youth editions are not summaries and they are not simplified versions of something better: they are the same books written for a younger reader, in shorter chapters and plainer words, with their own crisis pages and their own things to remember. Every page of either edition links to the other.
Where the words came from
Every sentence of both books is the author's own, taken from her manuscripts and reproduced as written. This edition sets her text; it does not revise it. The chapter order, the parts, the journalling prompts, the guidance for parents and teachers, the research notes and the crisis numbers are all hers, in her sequence.

The covers are hers. They are shown here as the covers of books, which is why they do not share this site's palette — a cover belongs to its book.
What this edition refuses to do
- It keeps nothing about you. No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no cookies. Anything you type into the journal is stored by your own browser on your own device and is never sent anywhere.
- It never puts help behind anything. The crisis numbers are on every page in the bar at the top and on a page of their own that works with JavaScript switched off.
- It does not show you a child. No footage or illustration on this site depicts an identifiable person or a minor. The stories in the book are about young people; the pictures are of weather, rooms, hands and light.
- It does not diagnose or treat. This is a book, not care. The people on the other end of those numbers are the care.
The pictures
The 21 looping backgrounds are documentary footage licensed from Pexels and re-encoded to load quickly; each page credits its photographer in the corner of the loop. They carry no sound. If your system asks for reduced motion, they hold still.
