Katie stood at the podium of the first national healing summit. Three hundred centers. Twelve thousand mentors. A hundred thousand young lives redirected. She looked out at Jennie, Carissa, Casey, Macy, Darius, Maya, Esperanza, Noah, Carrie, and hundreds more.

She thought of Jon. She thought of the bracelet. She thought of the burned grilled cheese and the first laugh. She thought of Joe and her children and the mirror where she said “I love you” every morning.

“Every person in this room was told, at some point, that they were too broken to be fixed. Every person proved them wrong. We are not here because we are special. We are here because we survived. And now we have one job: make sure the next generation does not have to survive alone.”

The room stood. Not because they were told to. Because they could not stay seated.

And somewhere in the back, a fifteen-year-old girl who had walked through the doors six months ago—terrified, silent—stood too. And for the first time in her life, she believed she belonged.

This is how the world changes. One story at a time. One hand at a time. One healed heart reaching back for the one still in the dark. This is the vision. This is the movement. And this—at last, at long last—is the beginning.
